Compiègne, the quintessential city of horses, blends the elegance of its historic monuments—such as the majestic Château de Compiègne and its park, Saint-Jacques Church, and the Gothic Town Hall—with the grandeur of its imperial forest, once a renowned royal hunting ground. This region, steeped in Napoleonic history and marked by events like the 1918 Armistice signed in the nearby clearing, offers a unique setting where heritage, nature, and a passion for equestrianism converge for an unforgettable experience.

Bosty and Ballerine du Vilpion: a legendary victory to close the Compiègne Classic 2026

A finale worthy of this exceptional edition was needed, and Roger-Yves Bost delivered. This Saturday afternoon at the Grand Parc Equestrian Stadium, the rider from Barbizon won the CSI 3* 1,55m Grand Prix of the City of Compiègne aboard Ballerine du Vilpion—who had already won the Longines Grand Prix at the CSI 5* in Hong Kong in February. Bilal Zaryouh and Éden Leprevost Blin-Lebreton completed an all-French podium.
"I'm all the more delighted to win this Grand Prix as my last victory here dates back to the 1990s!" smiled Bosty. Thirty years later, the 2013 European champion, Rio Olympic team champion, and 1990 World Team Champion is back on top in Compiègne. Last to go in the jump-off, he found the perfect course to edge out Bilal Zaryouh—who had led for much of the competition on Grabuge—and a very solid Éden Leprevost Blin-Lebreton on Barbie de la Roque. Frédéric Bouvard and Nina Mallevaey completed a strong French quintet in this highly competitive final.
A victory that sums up the ambition of this fifth edition: eleven of the world's top one hundred riders gathered in Compiègne, including world number one Scott Brash for his first participation, in an atmosphere of great popular celebration with free and open access.

A highlight of Compiègne Classic, the 3* Grand Prix of the City of Compiègne will take place on Saturday, April 11th at 1:00 PM. The true sporting finale of the weekend, this event is the most anticipated of the competition. In show jumping, a Grand Prix is the premier event: the one that brings together the best horse and rider combinations on a course that is higher, more technical, and more demanding than the others. In Compiègne, riders will have to clear obstacles reaching 1,55 meters, precisely linking together a series of challenges that test jumping quality, responsiveness, speed, and the perfect partnership between horse and rider. The 3* level indicates that this is a top-tier international competition, listed on the official calendar of the International Equestrian Federation. In other words, the public can expect to witness top-level sport, with elite riders, exceptional horses, and a truly competitive atmosphere. Because in this type of competition, speed isn't enough: you must first complete a clear round. If several pairs manage this, they then compete in a jump-off, a decisive second round against the clock. Usually eagerly anticipated on Sunday, the Grand Prix will take place on Saturday this year. A highlight not to be missed to discover, understand, and experience the thrill of international show jumping.

On Sunday, April 12th, Compiègne Classic will shift gears, offering the public a day where horses are discovered in a new light. For its final event before closing, the Compiègne Equestrian Association will present a program focused on spectacle, emotion, and discovery, featuring a polo demonstration followed by several equestrian performances designed to appeal to enthusiasts, families, and the simply curious alike. Polo will open the day with a spectacular demonstration, giving the public a glimpse into another facet of the equestrian world. Then will come the show, with artists who have made the arena a true language. Santi Serra is one of its most distinctive figures. This self-taught Catalan artist has established himself over the years as a leading figure in liberty horse performance, earning invitations to major international events such as the Dublin Horse Show, IFEMA Madrid Horse Week, and the Longines Paris Eiffel Jumping. His work is based on trust, gentleness, and a form of visual poetry that resonates with both connoisseurs and the general public. For him, spectacle doesn't come from forced effects, but from the impression of absolute harmony between man and animal. In contrast to this very free and almost dreamlike world, Clémence Faivre brings a different approach to equestrian performance, more theatrical, more cinematic. Trained in acting, stunts, and equestrian art—from the Cours Florent drama school to the world of Mario Luraschi, before attending the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art—this Frenchwoman has been creating shows since 2010 that blend haute école, Iberian elegance, a sense of staging, and aesthetic exploration. Invited to perform at galas, show jumping events, and ceremonies in numerous countries, she has forged a signature style where technique never clashes with emotion. With Kevin Ferreira, the day will take on a more intense and physical tone. A highly visual performance artist, he creates a world where liberty training, vaulting, and stunts intersect, in a more direct, more acrobatic style. His work brings a different rhythm, a different energy, driven by the commitment of the body as much as by the relationship with the horse. Following the poetry of Santi Serra and the finesse of Clémence Faivre, his presence will complete the program with a more raw and spectacular dimension, one that immediately captures the audience's attention.
